Awesome Wimbledon Final

It looks like it has been ages since I had updated the blogs. I have made a resolution that come what may I have to keep the blog active.

Last week was a pretty hectic and i wanted to cool my heels by spending some time b4 the idiot box and spend weekend at home leisurely. The timing was perfect as the Wimbledon finals was scheduled that week end. Saturday was boring enough as the Women's finals was again a tussle between the Williams sisters. By the time both of them hang their boots, They can be rest assured that they would have made women's tennis less interesting for sure.Full credit to them as they have the talent and power(they should compete with men!!!) and thats the reason why they are winning. But beyond a point of time it becomes boring to see the same set of people vying for honours. Ther have also been allegations that Daddy Williams decodes who is going to be the winner of the match even before the first ball is served. What Crap!!!!!

The men's final was an interesting one with Roger Federer and Andy Roddick. Federer was going for the record 15th grand slam to go beyond the legendary Pete sampras and he was facing the Comeback kid Andy Roddick who has brought a sea change in his game after using the services of a new coach. The stage was set for an interesting battle. The game started on expected lines with players holding on to their servers and finally Roddick played a brilliant game to break Federer's serve to take the first set 7-5.This would have given a great impetus to Roddick as Federer was expected to run away with the 3 sets to clinch the championship. The second set went into a tie break with Roddick missing a golden oppurtunity to take the second set after having 4 set points at 6-2 to lose the set at 8-6.

The 3rd set also went into a tie break and after a close tie break federer won the set to go 2-1 up in the final. There was an early break of serve from Roddick in the 4th set and Roddick won the 4th set. The 5th set was a real humdinger and it went on with serves as there are no tie breaks in final set and Federer won the marathon final 16-14 in 5th set by breaking Roddick for the first time in the match lasting just beyond 4 hours to clinch the Championship.FeD Ex had delievered again and he created history by braking sampras's record. Credit is due for Andy for putting up a valiant display of tennis and as vijay amritraj said they resembled 2 gladiators on court that day.

It was tennis of the highest order and Federer proved again why he is a great player. It was good effort from Andy and he has a great future if he continues to play this way.

All in all it was a super sunday.

Cheers,
Raj

Indians @ olympics

I am blogging after a long time now coz work has been really hectic. So this blog has been a long time due. I have always wondered why we as a nation perform very poorly in sports. When we can churn out good academicians, CEO's business magnates and actors(!!!odd though) we have not been able to produce world class athletes. It pains me to see a guy like phelps from US saying he is gunning for 8 golds this time whereas we are searching for medals from entire Indian Contigent. Thank heavens Abhinav Bindra won the first individual gold medal for the first time in the history of India at the olympics. Its shameful to say the least when we see the national game Hockey(many of us would have gone for cricket :)) did not even qualify for the olympics.
So here we are back to the same question? Why does India fare so badly at the olympics. First thing that comes to my mind is that we dont have an attitude towards sports which means, the kids are told to consider sports as a pass time activity and the thought that the Education only fetches jobs is drillend into the young kids minds. We need to change that and allow our children to continue with their sports when they reach 12th class or college. Here what happens is that when a student reaches 12th class, all the extra curricular activities comes to a stand still. We need to allow people to carry on with sports or else we will be losing a lot of talented youngsters this way.
Next reason that I feel why india is failing is because of the poor infrastructure given to sportpersons who play games other than cricket. Its a well known fact that the Cricket players in this country are treated as demi gods. Its the other sportspersons who are the neglected ones who suffer from poor accomodation and training facilities. At the most these sportpersons get a job in ONGC or any of the banks or in the Airlines. Many athletes suffer from poor facilities like ther have been cases where the shooters have run out of ammunition and use poor weapons while practicing. I am not sure if Abhinav Bindra would have fetched a Gold medal if not for his wealthy background. He got to train abroad with the support of his wealthy parents. We need to stop showering all the attention to cricket which has been hyped enough and its high time we turn towards other sports. Otherwise the rich haul of medals for India in the Olympics will remain an unfulfilled dream.

Effective working <> longer working hours

Friends,
It has been hectic work for the past 1 month. so have not been able to blog for a month or so.. So here I am back again with a new post. This post is about general what happens @professional environment. Those who are in Professional work environment especially IT, S/w etc would have come across these situations and are better relate to this. It always happens in most of the cases that the s/w companies are located far off from the city and it takes a hell a lot of time to travel to and fro home to office. Some people are lucky enough to have office near by their house. I am not that lucky enough though.. My office is a cool 60 km from the city and travelling takes up 1/6 th of the day. :(..
Since the offices are far off from the city , most of the people would want to finish off work early and head home @ the earliest atleast I prefer that... Thats where the problem creeps in. The general attitude is that the people who stay longer hours in office are supposed to be the most hardworking and those who finish their work and leave early are seen as "Non workers". But what happens is most of the people who stay late just surf the net and do less efective work....So when few lot who want to leave early are asked some questions like "so early?? or "jaldi jaa rahe ho?? or what are you gonna do after going home?? Personally I dont like such questions as what I am doing after leaving office is none of their business. Work is not the only thing in life... There are many other things exciting in life other than work,..Many of my friends have also faced these problems...I believe the only solution to such problem is to get your job done and leave early and even if someone asks anything just tell them that our work is done and tell them to mind their business...

I surely feel that many would have faced such problems . so please feel free to leave your comments behind....

cheers,
Raj.

blogging for the first time

Hi Friends,
I have been wanting to open my blog account but it has taken quite some time to take off but better late than never. Actually I wanted to start on my blogs early last year itself, but thanks to heavy workload (which includes a good number of saturdays) and an wonderful exam called "CAT". It has taken some time for me to come out of the CAT debacle. So here I am opening my blog account. I would like to introduce myself. I am Rajesh. I am employed in 1 of the big IT co's and belong to the so called "species" of Software Engineers. I referred to the breed as species because people react differently when you say you are a software professional. It happens everywhere. Just to cite a few example, s/w professionals are being viewed by people as people who earn hell a lot of money doing nothing but thats not the truth. Will take up these "issues" in the upcoming blogs. Finally its nice to have some virtual space on the net.

Ok so Please feel free to give your valuable comments.

cheers,
Raj
