Effective working <> longer working hours

Friends,
It has been hectic work for the past 1 month. so have not been able to blog for a month or so.. So here I am back again with a new post. This post is about general what happens @professional environment. Those who are in Professional work environment especially IT, S/w etc would have come across these situations and are better relate to this. It always happens in most of the cases that the s/w companies are located far off from the city and it takes a hell a lot of time to travel to and fro home to office. Some people are lucky enough to have office near by their house. I am not that lucky enough though.. My office is a cool 60 km from the city and travelling takes up 1/6 th of the day. :(..
Since the offices are far off from the city , most of the people would want to finish off work early and head home @ the earliest atleast I prefer that... Thats where the problem creeps in. The general attitude is that the people who stay longer hours in office are supposed to be the most hardworking and those who finish their work and leave early are seen as "Non workers". But what happens is most of the people who stay late just surf the net and do less efective work....So when few lot who want to leave early are asked some questions like "so early?? or "jaldi jaa rahe ho?? or what are you gonna do after going home?? Personally I dont like such questions as what I am doing after leaving office is none of their business. Work is not the only thing in life... There are many other things exciting in life other than work,..Many of my friends have also faced these problems...I believe the only solution to such problem is to get your job done and leave early and even if someone asks anything just tell them that our work is done and tell them to mind their business...
